Cameron acting SGI President and CEO

Warren Sproule, Chair of SGI’s Board of Directors, announced today that the Board has appointed Earl Cameron as acting President and CEO of SGI.

Cameron, a 35-year SGI employee, is currently the Vice-President, Claims and Salvage with SGI. His appointment takes effect November 1.

Cameron moves into this position following the resignation of current SGI President and CEO Jon Schubert effective October 31. Schubert begins a new position with the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia in November.

“The Board appreciates Earl taking on this role,” says Sproule. “Earl has a thorough understanding of SGI and the insurance industry. The Board has great confidence in Earl and the current management team in leading SGI while we undertake the search for a permanent President and CEO.”

“Jon leaves SGI in an excellent position,” says Cameron. “We are in good financial shape, and our focus remains on serving customers and maintaining high quality and affordable auto insurance. We have a terrific team of employees and insurance brokers who understand our industry and the opportunities and challenges ahead. There are several important initiatives under way within SGI today, and our objective is to keep the positive momentum going in the business direction we have set.”

The Board has struck a search committee and begun a national search for a permanent President and CEO.
