Co-owners included in Safe Driver Recognition
Beginning December 1, 2002, individuals who co-own private or farm passenger vehicles will be eligible to receive discounts on their vehicle insurance under the Safe Driver Recognition program.
SGI will also send pro-rated refunds to those customers who have renewed their co-owner registrations since the program was first introduced on July 1, 2002.
SGI has reviewed each of the 22,000 co-owner registrations and is now in a position to meet its commitment of including co-owners in SGI's Safe Driver Recognition program before year end, Crown Investments Corporation Minister Maynard Sonntag said. This is another example of SGI listening to its customers.
The discount for co-owners will be calculated by averaging the safety rating of each individual co-owner. Co-owners still have the option of plating their vehicle in the name of one individual if they so choose.
The Safe Driver Recognition program provides discounts to Saskatchewan vehicle owners based on their individual driving records. Co-owners were not eligible for the discount when the program was first introduced because co-owner registrations were not linked to the individual driving records.
