Kids Help Phone receives donation from SGI CANADA
SGI CANADA today presented a cheque for $41,000 to Kids Help Phone to help fund its initiatives in Saskatchewan. The money came from proceeds from the 2001 SGI CANADA Charity Classic.
The ninth annual curling bonspiel raised funds to assist Kids Help Phone in providing free, professional counselling services to young people, 24-hours a day, every day of the year, in both English and French.
Around 10,000 curling fans attended the 2001 SGI CANADA Charity Classic over the Thanksgiving weekend.
We are very proud of the continued success of the Charity Classic, said Crown Investments Corporation Minister Maynard Sonntag. This year the Classic featured some of the top mens and womens curling rinks battling it out for incredible prize money. The high profile and exceptional calibre of competition helped attract large and enthusiastic crowds, all to raise funds for Kids Help Phone and its initiatives in Saskatchewan.
We're really pleased to get this kind of financial support, said Marguerite Stephanson, Saskatchewan Chapter Manager of Kids Help Phone. Last year alone, over 28,300 children and youth from 325 Saskatchewan communities called the Kids Help Phone. This money will go a long way toward ensuring that we are able to continue to help children and youth in communities all over the province.
The Charity Classic is organized and staffed by volunteers, and all operating revenue is raised through ticket sales and sponsorship from SGI CANADA brokers and business partners.
