New site for Moose Jaw SGI Salvage operations building

President Larry Fogg today announced SGI is building a new Moose Jaw SGI Salvage operations facility.

"Moose Jaw's auto salvage and parts operation has outgrown its current facilities on Ominica Street West," Fogg said. "In the last few years, insufficient yard space at the site has become a problem. At the same time, SGI's parts inventory has grown substantially. A larger building and more yard space will ensure the SGI Salvage operation in Moose Jaw will better meet the needs of customers and staff."

The new 14,600 square foot building be located on the 300 block of the North Service Road and will provide sales, salvage and claims compounds, along with paved customer and staff parking.

The new building will sit on four acres of land, compared to the current 1.5 acres. The substantial increase in yard space will better accommodate the large volume of vehicles now processed in Moose Jaw. In its first full year of operation in 1972, the Moose Jaw branch processed 246 vehicles. It now averages 1,600 per year.

"The current site is so overcrowded with vehicles, many are double and triple parked," Fogg said.

"The new site will provide nearly triple the yard space creating sufficient room to house all the vehicles the Moose Jaw branch now processes. "The new site will make SGI Salvage bigger and better in Moose Jaw. The increase in space will cut down on the time it takes Salvage employees to locate and move vehicles and a larger garage will allow for more vehicles to be processed at a time enhancing customer service."

Construction on the new facility is expected to get underway in late June with a projected completion date by the end of October.
