An independent broker can help you get the best insurance policy

The last time you bought insurance for your home, car or business, you probably bought it from an independent insurance broker. But do you know what advantage that choice gives you?

"Independent brokers represent more than one insurance company, meaning they can help you shop around for the policy that best meets your needs in terms of price and coverage," says Barb Ricard, President of the Insurance Brokers Association of Saskatchewan (IBAS).

Ricard says independent brokers provide people who buy insurance with choice, peace of mind, and the convenience of one-stop shopping. "By using an independent broker, you’re able to shop your business with several insurance companies at once," she says. "As a result, you’re much more likely to get the best product at the best available price."

Ricard observes that most independent insurance brokers are also small-business people, meaning they’re customer and community oriented.

"Independent brokers are a part of your community and they give back to your community," she says. "And because they know their own communities inside out, they can provide much better service."
